Huawei launches Ascend Mate phablet in India, priced at Rs 24,990

The company has priced the device competitively at Rs 24,900, making it a great value-for-money gadget.

After launching a few mid-segment Android smartphones a couple of months ago, Huawei has now released its much anticipated phablet, the Ascend Mate, in India.

The company has priced the device competitively at Rs 24,900, making it a great value-for-money gadget.

Announced at the Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas earlier this year, Ascend Mate was, at the time, the biggest phablet, with a 6.1-inch display. But now, Samsung has announced its Mega series, the biggest of which is 6.3 inches.

The Ascend Mate has Corning Gorilla Glass display with 1280 x 720 p resolution. It is crafted in 9.9 mm thick and weights 198 grams which makes it pretty heavy to hold.

Powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, the phablet has 2GB of RAM. It operates on Android v4.1, while most smartphones today are already running the latest version of Android (Jelly Bean).

"The Huawei Ascend Mate breaks all barricades to deliver supercharged entertainment, communication and creative experience for all personal and professional needs," says Victor Shanxin, President, Huawei Devices India.

The device has an 8 MP camera with auto focus and HDR, capable of shooting and playing full HD videos. DLNA, Huawei Air Sharing, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct are the connectivity options onboard.

The Ascend Mate has a 4050mAh battery, which the company claims gives a standby time of nine hours on WCDMA.
