LG Electronics is the latest to join the 4k bandwagon in India
with a 84-inch Ultra HD 3D TV. The TV has a "ultra definition" (UD)
screen resolution of 3840 x 2160, four times the resolution of FULL HD.
The 84-inch Ultra HD 3D TV will cost Rs 17 lakh and will be available in stores from November 1.
Toshiba and Sony
have already launched similar products in the Indian market. The massive LG television is being showcased at the Home Electronics Show currently on in Delhi.
MD LGEIL Soon Kwon said with four times the pixel resolution of HDTVs, ultra-HD technology promises to transform the home entertainment experience on giant displays, truly recreating the movie theater in the living room.
"We are targeting business worth Rs 1,000 crore from 3D TVs and aim to consolidate our position in the Flat Panel TV segment with 30 per cent market share and 45 per cent market share in 3D TV."
The TV will use the four-mode Magic Remote and has Premium Content, Home Dashboard, Smart Share Plus and voice recognition among other top-end features.
In addition to built-in Wi-Fi, it supports Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) technology and Smart Share Plus to access content stored on external devices such as PCs, tablets and smartphones. The TV also features a 2.2 speaker system consisting of two 10W speakers and two 15W woofers.
