Micromax Canvas 6, Canvas 6 Pro smartphones launched, priced at Rs 13,999

At its 'Guts to Change' event in New Delhi on Wednesday, Micromax announced the launch of its Canvas 6 smartphone. It is the first smartphone by the company which boasts full metal unibody design, it also features a finger print scanner.

The Canvas 6 features a 5.5 inch full HD display and is powered by 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor. It is paired with 32GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM and expandable memory card slot.

On the other hand, the Canvas 6 Pro features a 5.5 inch full HD display and will be powered by MediaTek's 64-bit Helio X10 octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz. It will have 4GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage. It also offers expandable memory.

Both the smartphones are priced at Rs 13,999 and pack in a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera. It sports 4G LTE, WiFi and 3000 mAh battery.

Micromax has also invested in three new manufacturing units in India. This will help the company to ramp up domestic production. Micromax also announced its own e-store, where it plans on selling its devices.

Micromax, which enjoys the second spot in the smartphone market share in India has been facing heat from players such as Xiaomi, LeEco and Lenovo. Along with the Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro, Micromax has announced the launch of 13 more phones, two 4G Tablets and two models of LED TVs.
