The Canvas Win W121 is priced Rs 9,500 and features a 5-inch HD IPS display, 8MP rear camera with flash and 2MP front facing camera. Looking beyond the Android operating system, Micromax has come up with the Canvas Win series running on the Windows Phone operating system.
The company announced the launch of this series with two new smartphones, Canvas Win W121 and W902, at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday.
The Canvas Win W902 boasts a 4-inch touch display and is priced attractively at Rs 6,500. The smartphone runs on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system and packs in a 1.2GHz Quad core processor on Qualcomm 200 chipset. It is coupled with 1GB of RAM and comes with 8GB internal storage. Micromax has packed in a 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front facing camera and a 1500 mAh battery to the W902.
The Canvas Win W121 is priced Rs 9,500 and features a 5-inch HD IPS display, 8MP rear camera with flash, 2MP front facing camera, proximity sensor, gravity sensor and up to 32 GB expandable memory. Even the W121 runs on Qualcomm 200 chipset with 1.2GHz quad core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage and Windows Phone 8.1.
Both the smartphones come with personalized user interface with LiveTiles, and has Internet Explorer 11 for web browsing. The Windows Phone App store has over 300,000 apps.
While Microsoft has a tie up with Nokia, HTC, Huawei and Samsung, only Nokia smartphones running on Windows Phone 8.1 are available in the market. However, earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, Microsoft has announced new hardware partners in addition including Foxconn, Gionee, JSR, Karbonn, Lava (Xolo), Lenovo, LG, Longcheer and ZTE. Amongst the few Indian handset partners, Micromax is the first Indian smartphone player to launch a Windows-based phone.
