The Netherlands technology giant, Philips Electronics has announced the launch of a range of consumer lifestyle and lighting solutions in India.
Focusing on the lighting solutions, Philips India talked about lighting going digital and unveiled its plan to launch a 7W LED bulb in white and yellow colour, 350 lumens in the coming days. Aimed to save up to 80 per cent energy consumption, in comparison to the standard incandescent bulbs, it will last up to 15 years. Harnessing the power of the sun, the company launched Solar LED solutions for street lights in 8W, 13W and 21 W options. The company explained that the digital capabilities of LEDs allow for tremendous customization in terms of light output to provide optimum light coverage as per the Indian Road Lighting Standards.
Rajeev Chopra, Managing Director, Philips Electronics India Ltd, said, "The launch of our new solar LED lighting solutions is in line with Philips' vision to enhance consumer experience by make lighting more accessible and dependable. Our new solutions are aimed at offering a reliable lighting source that also helps the environment."
The company even showcased a portable solar-powered rechargeable LED light with multi-level illumination control for home usage.
On the other hand, under consumer lifestyle, the company talked about products under three segments- kitchen appliances, personal care and AVENT toddler range. Considering the changing needs of the Indian consumers, the company has introduced new products in its personal care portfolio of grooming products. Announcing two new epilators for women - Philips Satinelle Soft Sensitive and entry level Philips Lady Shaver, they also talked about the new hair styling products including Hair Straightener and Salon Air stylist Ceramic curler. The company also launched a new value segment juicer and mixer-grinder for domestic daily use.
This new juicer has an extra large feeding tube that can be used for putting fruits and vegetables without chopping and peeling. The compact mixer-grinders are durable, easy to use and have a compact design to find space in smaller kitchens as well. The AVENT range for kids included a microwave steam sterilizer for bottles and a combined steamer and blender for preparing toddlers food.
Along with the product launches, the company also talked about Philips Health and Wellbeing Index that was conducted in 23 countries including India. This index revealed that 20 per cent more Indians, on average, feel happy and healthy in comparison with people in countries like the USA and China.
The company also witnessed 20 per cent growth rate in 2010 in healthcare and lighting solutions in the Indian market. It also aims at a 40 per cent contribution from the emerging markets to its global revenues by the year 2015.
