The tablet has BlackBerry Bridge for viewing e-mails and BlackBerry Messenger for staying connected with friends and family.

Along with the launch, the India Today Group has unveiled the ultimate bridal fashion App for BlackBerry. The Indian bride Look Book App is a collection of the country's best bridal fashion, showcasing the latest trends in designer wedding wear. It is available for free in BlackBerry App World.

Designed as an interactive look-book, the app contains nearly 160-odd pages of premium photographs of models and celebrities donning the bridal wear crafted by some of India's best known designers.  Each look and style is grouped according to an outfit type that includes sarees, lehengas, suits and gowns. Accessories like trendy bags and jewellery are also showcased. A special section on men's fashion further ensures that this becomes your favourite application.

India Today Group Digital COO Kalli Purie says, "The bride look book is a pocket app to help brides and the entire team that supports her find the perfect outfit for each occasion at their personal convenience. Each page in this book is as beautiful as the brides they are meant to help".

The user can flip through page-by-page or select from the contents menu to go directly to each section. It also tells which ensemble works for each of the wedding ceremonies be it roka, engagement, mehendi, cocktails, wedding or the reception. The users can flip through individual pages or select from section like sarees, lehengas, gowns, suits, for groom, etc. The app also has video clips from the ramp to show how the clothes look in reality.

And there's more. Editors of Harper's Bazaar India and Cosmopolitan India magazines give their picks for the wedding season, ensuring that the users simply can't go wrong with their wedding trousseau. The creators of the app know exactly what a wedding means to a woman.

Where the PlayBook stands:
  • All three devices - PlayBook, Apple's iPad and Samsung's Galaxy Tab - work on different and highly sophisticated operating systems.
  • PlayBook's design is the most compact at just 7 inches. This feature makes it the most portable tablet amongst its competitors.
  • The PlayBook's camera is of a superior resolution than iPad2, but Samsung Galaxy Tab beats both of them in this department.
  • The biggest advantage that the PlayBook has over the iPad is that of a USB port. External devices can't be plugged in the iPad, but the PlayBook and Galaxy have overcome this disadvantage.
  • The BlackBerry tablet also supports 4G services, which are not supported by the iPad. That makes this device a good and forward-looking buy.
  • Like the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the Blackberry PlayBook supports Adobe Flash and its applications.
