It won't be wrong to say that the world waits for Apple to announce its new iPhones every year.
On Wednesday, late in the evening, the Cupertino firm launched its two new smartphones - the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. With no major change on the design front, a lot has been improved on the innards front. As the iPhones will go on sale in a few selected countries starting September 25, its biggest competition at the moment will be the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
While the new iPhones will be launched closer to the festive season in India, Samsung too will roll out its Galaxy Note 5 in India on September 20.
Here is how the two flagships compete against each other.
Note: The comparison is on the basis of the price. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has been launched for Rs 53,900 for 32GB variant whereas the Apple iPhone 6s is expected to be priced around Rs 55,000.
Display: Apple has continued with the 4.7inch display (1334x750 pixel resolution) on the iPhone 6s. At the same time, the company has added a 3D force touch to the display. Along with tap and swipe, this new display recognizes force. For instance, a light press will show a short glimpse of an email whereas a long press will open the email. Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 features a 5.7inch display (2560x1440 pixel resolution) with support for capacitive touch and its SPen stylus. The colour reproduction, clarity and sharpness on the Note 5 is superb.
Camera: Apple has finally upgraded the iSight camera on the iPhones to 12MP and claims that the camera now captures 50 per cent more pixels and supports 4k video capture. It has got Live Photos where It captures the moments just before and after your picture and sets it in motion The Galaxy Note 5 features a 16MP camera, supports 4k videos and there is also a live streaming video option onboard.
Processor & OS: The new iPhones are based on the new A9 chipsets, powered by the custom-designed 64-bit chip. Apple claims that the A9 chip delivers performance once found only in desktop computers with up to 70 percent faster CPU performance, and up to 90 percent faster GPU performance. It has the iOS 9 onboard which has been deeply integrated with the hardware. Samsung has added Exynos 7420 (2.1GHz and 1.5GHz, octa-core) processor and it runs on Android Lollipop operating system with the Samsung TouchWiz UI. The interface of these smartphones are a world apart.
RAM: Apple never talks about the RAM onboard whereas the OEMs manufacturing Android smartphones are running a RAM rat race. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 packs in a 4GB of RAM. Reports are suggesting that the new iPhone models have 2GB of RAM, as confirmed MobileSyrup during the hands-on.
Battery: Apple also doesn't reveal the battery size on the new iPhones but the company claims to offer 10 hours of estimated battery life. We will know the exact battery onboard only when someone tears down the iPhone post the launch. But Samsung has added a 3000mAh battery onboard.
