OnePlus 2 details revealed ahead of launch

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has revealed a few more features of its upcoming phone OnePlus 2 at an AMA (ask me anything) session on Reddit.

The OnePlus 2 is rumoured to have the same 5.5inch display as on its predecessor, but the company showcased an image where the OnePlus 2 was hidden beneath OnePlus One. This, however, doesn't mean that the OnePlus 2 will have a smaller display.

There is a possibility that the company has reduced the bezel without changing the display. Also, while OnePlus One had a 3,100 mAh battery, the OnePlus 2 will have a 3,300 mAh battery.

Without throwing much light on camera optics, the company mentioned that the rear camera is a 'high priority' and will 'have a bunch of things that will set the OnePlus 2 apart'. The company also revealed the LTE bands it will support in USA, Europe and the rest of the world. The new smartphone will 'not' have a heart rate sensor. The company says they are proud of the design and the build.

When launched, OnePlus 2 will be sold through the company's invite-only model with improved invite system. The company does not plan to discontinue OnePlus One after the release of OnePlus 2.

Other specifications confirmed by the company include Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner, Oxygen OS and 4GB of RAM. The company had earlier revealed that the phone will be priced under $450 (about Rs 28,999).

The OnePlus 2 will be unveiled on July 27 through Virtual Reality for which the company has developed a special app. Anyone will be able to view the launch event using the app, with or without the cardboard VR.
