Apple fanbois here will have to wait for the iPhone 5 as India is not among the 31 countries getting the phone in September.

There are rumours that iPhone 5 will be launched around Diwali, which would mean India will be part of the third wave of the launch scheduled between mid-October and November.

The biggest challenge the iPhone 5 will pose is the availability of the nano-SIM cards. Even after two years of the iPhone 4 launch and many other phones supporting microSIM, these smaller SIM cards are not readily available in the country. Most operators rely on SIM cutters. However, this won't work in the case of the nano-SIM cards.

So picking an iPhone 5 from the grey market won't just be of any help till the time someone comes up with a nano-SIM chopper that can be used to cut the regular SIM card to fit in this new smartphone.

Pricing: While launching the iPhone, Apple always calculates and projects the stand of the local currency against the Dollar for the coming year and then decides the price. Considering the weak Indian Rupee, we are expecting the iPhone 5 to be priced in between Rs 47,000 to Rs 50,000. The unlocked version of the iPhone 5 will be available for Singapore $948 that comes out close to Rs 43,000 at the moment.

REVIEW: iPhone 5 blends beauty with versatility

With the launch of the iPhone 5, Apple has discontinued the iPhone 3GS and technically, has made the iPhone 4 free (with a two-year contract). Considering, the iPhone 4 will be available for Singapore $588, which comes out close to Rs 27,000, we expect the slashed price to be around Rs 30,000. The iPhone 4S conversion price is close to Rs 36,500 and it might be priced around Rs 39,000.

Apple hasn't shared any India specific launch details yet.
