In the three days
since its launch in select countries,
Apple has sold three million of its new iPads. Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice-president of Worldwide Marketing, said: "The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold - the strongest iPad launch yet. Customers are loving the incredible new features of the iPad, including the stunning retina display, and we can't wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday."
India is not in the second list of countries that will receive the new iPad on March 23. However, there are rumours that the new iPad will reach the country by April end or first week of May. Sales executives at an Apple Premium Reseller Store in New Delhi said the new iPad 16GB Wi-Fi + 4G will be priced between Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000.
Considering the pricing of earlier iPads,
Apple is unlikely to charge a premium for the new version in India. If the Indian Rupee stays stable, it is likely that the new iPad 16GB Wi-Fi will be launched close to Rs 30,000.
