Facebook on Thursday announced its partnership with NASSCOM 's 10,000 Startups, an initiative aimed to boost the start-up ecosystem in India by 10 times.

Under this partnership, Facebook and NASSCOM will launch a new programme for developers and students called 'Leaders Building for the Next Billion', which will help them in building large-scale innovative apps and mobile websites for 'new-to-internet' user.

Facebook will select 10 developers for a six-month programme through an application process. These developers will be given technical, marketing and financial support by the company to build their applications and businesses.

"The participants will also qualify for $80,000 worth of support through our FBStart program and additional ad credits to build their business," Facebook said.

They will also be connected to industry leaders, CEOs, thought leaders, funders, media etc. under this program.

Facebook under this programme will also select students from across India through an application process, who will be asked to build mobile applications and lead engagement with engineers, designers, and other students on campus.

10,000 Startups is an attempt by IT industry body Nasscom which aims to enable funding, acceleration and incubation support for 10,000 startups in India over next 10 years.
