According to an Economic Times report, the plant will manufacture about 10,000 smartphones every day.

Apart from Apple and Xiaomi , the company has an impressive client base in Cisco, Dell, Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard.

Foxconn is looking at major investments in India. The company plans to invest about $2 billion (Rs 12,700 crore) over the next five years and expand its base into smartphone manufacturing in the country, comparable to China.

Earlier this month, government officials said Foxconn is in talks to manufacture Apple's iPhone in India, to help mitigate accelerating wage inflation in China where it makes the majority of iPhones, and base production sites closer to markets where its key clients want to grow.

Foxconn, along with Japan's SoftBank Corp and Bharti Enterprises, also plans to invest about $20 billion in solar projects in India to boost the renewable energy sector.
