Google ropes in LG, Samsung for Smart TV

Google has tied up with Sony, LG and Samsung as the internet giant eyes a new market - Smart TV - reports said.

Google will unveil new products and services for Google TV at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Tuesday, they added.

Google TV would enable viewers to connect to the Internet and enjoy a range of services and is slated to hit the market in the first half of this year.

Google first tried its hand at the TV market in October 2010 when it forged a partnership with Sony and Logitech, reports said. But the attempt failed as the business alliance did not include major U.S. TV stations.
