In a bid to tap the affordable tablet market, HCL launched three new tablets on Tuesday based on Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS - ME U2, ME V1 and ME Y3.

The  ME U2 is a 7-inch tablet with a WVGA display, 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor, Mali-400 GPU, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot. It has a VGA front facing camera and a 3,000 mAh battery onboard plus Google Play support. Available at Rs 5,999, it also supports full HD video playback.

Priced at Rs 7,999, the second tablet ME V1 has a 7-inch display, 1 GHz processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM, 4GB internal storage, 32 GB expandable along with built-in GSM for video calling and support for 3G data enabled through USB data card. It also has a 2MP rear camera. Unlike the ME U2, this one has the HCL ME App Store and not the Google Play Store.

MEY3 is the costliest among the three priced at Rs 11,999. It has a 7-inch display, a 1Ghz processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory, expandable memory card slot along with a 3.2 MP rear camera. It also features a dual-SIM and had a built in FM transmitter. It also supports HSUPA and need not be connected to a USB dongle. Just like the V1, apps can be downloaded from the ME Store.

HCL also announced Unmukt Chand as the brand ambassador for the ME tablet range.
