Microsoft announced the availability of the Consumer Preview of the
much awaited Windows 8 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Preview is now available for download worldwide in English, French, German, Japanese and simplified Chinese languages.
The
Preview is available in two versions at the moment. The 32-bit version download size at 2.5GB and the 64-bit version at 3.3GB. The basic system requirements for Windows 8 Consumer Preview includes a hardware powered by Windows 7 with 1GHz processor or faster, 1GB RAM(for 32-bit) and 2GB RAM (for 64-bit), Hard disk space of 16GB (for 32-bit) or 20 GB (for 64-bit) and Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device or higher.
"With Windows 8, we reimagined the different ways people interact with their PC and how to make everything feel like a natural extension of the device, whether using a Windows 8 tablet, laptop or all-in-one," said Steven Sinofsky, president of the Windows and Windows Live Division at Microsoft. "The Windows 8 Consumer Preview brings a no-compromises approach to using your PC."
