Microsoft has clarified that its new
Xbox One gaming console will be able to play used games.
This means video games discs that users buy will not be limited to one Xbox One device, and players can share or trade in the games they have bought for other used games, just as they have been able to do in the past.
In a blog post clarifying its licencing policy for Xbox Microsoft said, "Today, some gamers choose to sell their old disc-based games back for cash and credit. We designed Xbox One so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers."
Microsoft will not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games.
Microsoft had unveiled Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment
device, about a fortnight earlier. Xbox One will be available later this year.
