Announced earlier at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Sony has finally announced the launch of its M4 Aqua for the Indian market. The Xperia M4 Aqua has been priced at Rs 24,999 and will be available at the leading stores starting Tuesday.
Referred as a mid-segment smartphone, the biggest USP of the M4 Aqua is its water- and dust-resistant body. The M4 Aqua is an IP 65 and IP 68 certified smartphone, which means it can be submerged in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes.
The Xperia M4 Aqua packs in a 5-inch HD display with tempered glass. It runs on Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor and is paired with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone will have Android Lollipop out of the box and offers 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded using a memory card.
Sony has also added a 13MP rear camera with Sony sensor and a 5MP front-facing camera. The phone has a plastic built, but still feels premium. It weighs 136 grams and packs in a 2400 mAh battery. It will be available in white, black and coral colours.
Although launched for Rs 24,999, this isn't really a mid-segment smartphone. It faces stiff competition from the recently-launched Asus ZenFone 2 which features 4GB of RAM and a superb 13MP camera and is available for Rs 18,999.
