Five things to know about Microsoft's Surface 3 tablet

Tech firm Microsoft on March 31, 2015 unveiled Surface 3 tablet, almost a year after the launch of its predecessor Surface Pro 3. The tablet looks promising with its premium design and quality features. We tell you five features of the newly unveiled tablet which are creating buzz across different platforms.

1. The new version of Surface Pro 3 tablet costs $499, much less than its predecessor, for which one has to shell out $799. This makes it more attractive for the students, parents and on-the-go professionals.
2. Unlike previous non-"pro" versions of the Surface, the Surface 3 runs a full version of Windows, means it can run all the software that you're accustomed to running on a PC. It is also upgradable to Windows 10.
3. It has a pen which can be used to write, capture a screen shot and highlight text among other tasks.
4. The tablet has 2 HD cameras: 8-megapixel rear camera and the 3.5 megapixel front camera. Both are capable of shooting 1080p HD video.
5. And lastly, Microsoft claims that its battery lasts 10 hours on a single charge.
