Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi has launched its first 'Made in India' smartphone, the Redmi 2 Prime. The handset is priced at Rs 6,999 and will intensify competition in the category of phones that cost less than Rs 10,000. It will compete against the recently launched Micromax Canvas Xpress 2, Motorola Moto E 4G and Lenovo A6000. So, how do these four devices compare?

The Redmi 2 Prime features a 4.7-inch HD IPS display. It is powered by 1.2Ghz Snapdragon 410 64-bit octa-core chipset and is paired with 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB of onboard storage with expandable memory card support. It is running on Android KitKat with MiUi. The dual SIM smartphone has 4G LTE support, packs in an 8MP rear and a 2MP front-facing camera, and has a 2200mAh battery. The Redmi 2 Prime is priced at Rs 6,999 and is available starting today on the Mi website, Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal.

Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 is equipped with a 5-inch 720p display. It runs on Android KitKat operating system and has a 1.4GHz MediaTek octa-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The internal memory is restricted to 8GB with support for expandable memory. It has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing one. Even this is a dual SIM smartphone but with 3G connectivity support. It has a 2500mAh battery and is available for Rs 5,999 on Flipkart only.

A couple of months ago, Motorola announced its Moto E with 4G support. With a 4.7-inch qHD display, it is powered with the same processor as on Redmi 2 Prime (1.2Ghz Snapdragon 410 chipset). With 1GB of RAM, it has 8GB of internal storage and supports expandable memory, too. It is equipped with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Other features onboard include dual SIM support, LTE support, Android Lollipop and a 2390mAh battery. The Moto E 4G is available for Rs 6,999 on Flipkart.

Lenovo has also been aggressive in this segment. Its A6000 Plus is available on Flipkart for Rs 7,499. It packs in a 5-inch HD display, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, up to 32GB of expandable memory support, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, dual SIM support and a 2300mAh battery.
