Buying a sub 10k smartphone doesn't mean you are compromising on features or performance. With a lot many OEMs coming up with entry-level smartphones, the consumer is in for a treat. After Motorola, Asus, Micromax, Yu and many other brands, yet another name who is offering a stellar performer is Karbonn with its Titanium Mach Five.
Design: I wasn't really impressed with the look of the device until I saw different colour of the same smartphone. My review unit in champagne (gold like colour) seemed to scream for attention. It had a textured back and a black accent running around the display. But it sits easily in the hand. It has got a 5inch HD display with 294ppi that is a plus point considering the price of this smartphone. There are backlit hardware buttons below the display, a microUSB at the bottom and a 3.5mm jack at the top.
Performance: Priced at Rs 5,999, this one comes with a 1.3 Ghz MediaTek (MT6582) quad core processor and is paired with 2GB of RAM. It has got Android Lollipop operating system onboard. The overall performance for the smartphone was smooth and lag free. But the device did heat up after few minutes of gaming. However, it didn't show any signs of sluggishness which switching between the apps or streaming video or even while playing games. The device comes with 16GB of onboard storage and supports expandable memory.
IR Blaster: The highlight of the Karbonn Titanium MachFive is the IR blaster, which is capable of converting your smartphone into a remote. The Peel Smart Remote app comes pre-installed on the phone, using which, you can configure this smartphone to operate your TV, DVD player, set-top box and other devices. The best part was it wasn't just a false claim as it worked smoothly.
Camera: The Mach Five is equipped with a 8MP rear camera with a lot of modes including HDR, face detection, live inclinometer. While it takes time to capture an image, the image quality is pretty decent. It can even capture full HD videos. There is a 5MP front facing camera.
Battery: The 2200mAh battery lasted a day with ease.
Bag it or Junk it: A value for money smartphone with stock Android.
Price: Rs 5,999
Rating: 4/5
Plus: Stock Android, Price
Minus: Design
