Even though there are rumours that
Nokia smartphone on Windows Phone operating system would be announced this month at CommunicAsia,
Nokia India is all set to launch yet another E-Series smartphone, the E6. Scheduled to launch in the market within this month, we managed to spend some time with the handset.
Designed on the lines of the much popular E71, it is a touch and type device. The 2.46 inch gorilla glass touch display is accompanied with a well laid QWERTY keypad. For such a small display, the touch response was amazing. As Nokia always excels in the hardware, even typing using the QWETY was easy. The E6 operates on the new version of the Symbian operating system, Symbian Anna.
Bringing a few refreshing changes to the user interface, the home screen has 5 customized windows. The icons in the main menu look different, round and colourful. The most important of all is an improved email client. The enhanced internet browser rendered web pages quickly and the pinch-to-zoom addition works smoothly.
There is also an 8MP camera with fixed focus and can shoot videos at 720p resolution (25fpps). It does come loaded with QuickOffice and supports USB-on-the-Go (the feature first found in Nokia N8). But looks like the USB-on-the-go adapter won't be a part of the final sales pack. Along with being a business phone, it even offered great music output - even the album cover had a nice user interface.
We will post a detailed review in the August 2011 edition of Gadgets & Gizmo .
