First few hours with the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga is among the most awaited Windows 8 convertibles. After having laid my hands on at least four convertibles, the size and weight of this device came as a breath of fresh air. Most other convertibles feel heavy, especially when you are using them as tablets. Not the Yoga.

We are testing the 13-inch Yoga, with a metallic Netherland Orange colour. The colour is a bit loud, but not bad enough to put off anyone. Thankfully, everything inside is black. In fact, the surface around the keyboard is rubbery because this acts as the base when you push the screen 360 degrees back to make this device a tablet. This form factor means there at least two other positions in which you can use the Yoga. This flexibility explains the name.

The HD+ IPS panel is very good, though using it in sunlight is a bit hard. The multi-touch on the screen is very responsive. The keys are among the best you will find and have good travel. The device comes with two USB ports and an HDMI port. There is also a card reader. Like other convertibles and hybrids, this one too features a small power adapter and that can be a good features for business users.

The IdeaPad Yoga 13 runs on the Intel Core i5 processor. The 13-inch Yoga costs Rs 84,290. There is also a cheaper 11-inch Yoga, but that runs Windows 8 RT.
