Telecom operators Airtel, Jio and Vi recently increased the tariffs of their prepaid plans. Some of these prepaid plans offer additional data benefits and give discounts when recharged through the telecom operator's app. There is another way to save some money if you are someone who does not recharge through the app and is consistent with your recharge needs. Most users can make do with 2GB daily data that come along with unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day. Here is how the 2GB daily data monthly and annual plans differ in terms of pricing. The plans mentioned below do not include the Disney+ Hotstar benefit. However, the telcos are also offering plans that come along with the streaming benefit.
Airtel 2GB monthly vs annual prepaid plans
Airtel is giving four 2GB daily data plans that have 28 days, 56 days, 84 days and 365 days validity. These plans are priced at Rs 359, Rs 549, Rs 839 and Rs 2999 respectively. When recharged through the app, the Rs 359 prepaid plan comes at a Rs 50 discount for Rs 309. These plans also give unlimited calls along with 100 SMS per day. Now, if we were to calculate the daily data benefit, we note that the benefits keep on increasing as the price of the plan increases because users are spending less on per day data benefits. For instance, if users are paying Rs 359 every day for twelve months. Their total comes out to be Rs 4308 but when subscribed to an annual plan directly, the cost comes out to be Rs 2999 which saves users Rs 1309. Also, it gives a year-long validity of 365 days which is 29 days (almost a month extra) from the multiple of 28 days which comes out to be 336 days.
The Airtel Thanks app highlights that when users subscribe to the Rs 2999 prepaid plan, it costs them Rs 250 per month and when they get the Rs 839 prepaid plan, it costs Rs 280 per month which comes out under Rs 200.
Jio 2GB monthly vs annual prepaid plans
Jio offers a prepaid plan priced at Rs 299 that offers 2GB daily data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day. This plan has 28 days validity. The next plan with 56 days validity is priced at Rs 533 after which comes with 84 days validity and is priced at Rs 719. Finally, the yearly plan is priced at Rs 2879 and Jio calls it the Super Value plan. The reason is again the same -- the overall data benefits are more than the monthly plan and the plan lasts for a full year.
Vi 2GB monthly vs quarterly prepaid plans
Vi offers prepaid plans that give 2GB daily data with 28 days, 56 days and 84 days validity. These plans are priced at Rs 359, Rs 539 and Rs 839 respectively. All these plans give unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day. The quarterly plan or the. plan with 84 days validity comes down to Rs 279. Vi is currently not offering annual plans that give 2GB daily data. However, it is offering a prepaid plan that gives 1.5GB daily data priced at Rs 2899.
The above plans show that subscribing to prepaid plans with greater validity is more beneficial to users as it saves users money and in case they are subscribing to annual plans, they will get a full year-round validity and the same data and calling benefits.
