Amazon miniTV now available for iOS users, will give access to free shows and movies

Amazon had introduced miniTV for Indian users earlier this year in May. Until now, Amazon miniTV which was only available for Android users will now be available for the iOS platform. miniTV is an ad-based free video streaming service and users can access it from the Amazon India app. Users can get access to miniTV by clicking on the miniTV section to watch free video content. It works like the streaming service offered through in-app portals like on MyJio and the Flipkart app. miniTV is the second video entertainment offering by Amazon. The first remains to be Prime Video which requires a paid subscription to work. Unlike Prime Video, miniTV does not need a subscription to work and will only offer free video content to all users.

The development was first spotted and reported by Only Tech. The Amazon miniTV service is currently available only to Amazon app users in India. When the service was launched, the company had said that the miniTV would feature content ranging from web series, comedy shows to food, beauty, fashion content, and more. As the streaming service is integrated within the app, miniTV makes the Amazon India shopping app a single destination for customers wanting to shop for products, make payments or watch free entertainment videos.

Amazon recently hiked its Prime subscription charges from Rs 999 to Rs 1499 for an annual membership. For the monthly plan, Prime members will have to pay Rs 179. The quarterly plan has been revised for Rs 459. The student plans, which can be subscribed by people between the ages of 18 and 24, however, have seen a drop. The Youth Member now comes for Rs 499, instead of Rs 749. The monthly and quarterly Prime membership have been slashed to Rs 64 from Rs 89 and Rs 164 from Rs 299 respectively.

As of now, Airtel's Rs 699 prepaid plan which has a validity of 56 days gives access to Amazon Prime Membership. The plan gives 3GB daily data and unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day. The additional benefits of this plan include access to Prime Video Mobile Edition, Apollo 24 | 7 circles, free online courses with Shaw Academy, Rs 100 cashback on Fastag, free hello tunes and Wynk Music.
