
Tech executive Bob Lee, the former CTO at Square and also the creator of the mobile payment service Cash app, has been stabbed to death in San Francisco, reports suggest. The fatal stabbing happened on Tuesday morning. As per media reports, Lee was found stabbed on the 400 block of Main Street in SoMa.
The police confirmed that the death happened due to stabbing. Sharing more details, the official also said that the stabbing occurred at 2:35 am near a high-rise condominium building on the 400 block of Main Street at Harrison in SoMa. However, the San Francisco Police Department hasn't made any arrests or released any information about the possible suspects yet.
Explaining the stabbing scene, the police said that officers found Lee with stab wounds and provided medical assistance but nothing helped. Lee was then taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but despite all the efforts to save him, he died.
Taking to Twitter, The San Francisco Police Department is asking anyone with information about the stabbing to call the department.
Lee was part of the tech industry back in 1997 as a web developer and, with around 16 years of work experience, he has worked with some top tech companies like Capgemini, AT&T, Google, Square, and many more. At Google, Lee worked as Staff Software Engineer, while at Capgemini he worked as Senior Consultant.
Between January 2010 and May 2014, Lee worked with Jack Dorsey at Square, a financial services platform developed by Block. Lee's death shocked his ex-colleagues, including Dorsey. The Twitter co-founder also confirmed the death of Lee on the decentralized social media platform Nostr. "It's real. Getting calls. Heartbreaking," Dorsey's post read.
Most recently, Lee, who created the mobile payment service Cash App, was working as Chief Product Officer at Mobile Coin.
