Microsoft is rolling out its Walkie-Talkie for all the users who use Microsoft Teams. The feature, which was announced two years ago, is now available for a wide range of Zebra mobile devices and iOS, in addition to Android devices. Walkie-Talkie is a cool feature, which can be used to quickly communicate with your friends.
"As the frontline faces continuous constraints from labour shortages and supply chain disruptions, they want technology that saves them time, helps them communicate more seamlessly, and maximizes their efficiency when completing repetitive tasks. Walkie Talkie is now also available on all iOS mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads, in addition to Android mobile devices," Microsoft said in the blog post.
Microsoft Teams' Walkie-Talkie feature: How is it different from a traditional call?
It is different from a traditional call. With Microsoft Teams' Walkie-Talkie feature, one doesn't need to open the phone dial app on their phone, search for a contact, call that person and wait for them to pick up. If you are using the Walkie-Talkie feature, then you simply need to hold a button to speak on the Teams Walkie Talkie, and release the button for everyone to listen.
This feature is similar to how WhatsApp's audio snippet feature works. All you need to do is tap on the audio button to record a message and then send it. There are still a lot of messaging apps that don't offer this feature for communication.
Microsoft Teams: How to use Walkie-Talkie feature
The Walkie Talkie is not immediately visible and you will have to enable this feature. You need to add Walkie Talkie to theApp Setup Policy after which Walkie Talkie will be available on Microsoft Teams' app within 48 hours.
For this, users just need to visit the Microsoft Teams admin center > Teams app > Setup policies. Just make sure that the "Allow user pinning" option is on. Then, click on "+Add Apps," which is under the Pinned Apps section.
You will then see the Add pinned apps panel on the right side. Here, you will find Walkie Talkie. One can use the Search textbox to search for this feature. When you have it as a search result, select the Add button to the right of the name to add it to your list. The Walkie Talkie app should now appear on the Pinned Apps list, and be available for use once you click the Save button.
