Swiggy launches care corner to focus on COVID-19 needs, here is how to use it

Swiggy has launched a dedicated care corner in the app to provide special features to users affected by COVID. The Care Corner is similar to the Swiggy Genie but the Care Corner is more focused on COVID-19 needs. Using the new feature, you can send home-cooked food, medicines, groceries, etc to COVID positive patients, who are unable to step out. These features were already available in Swiggy Genie.

When you tap on the Care corner, you will find options of sending homemade food, care packages, source medicines and groceries using the feature. There is also a special "Care menu" which consists of home-cooked food and immunity boosters. There is also a special section where users can donate essential supplies like sanitizer, and oxygen concentrators.

Swiggy also announced that it will prioritize Gene deliveries across the country in the wake of the second wave. The Genie is an essential service through which users can ferry a range of necessities- from over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, oxy-meters, thermometers to home-cooked meals, care packages, and grocery.

As per the company data, the special feature by Swiggy witnessed a 350 percent increase in the delivery of over-the-counter medicines. The usage of Swiggy Genie has increased in over 15 days as compared to the last month. People have also used Genie to send home-cooked food and medicines to COVID-affected people in the past month.

Talking about the new move, Vivek Sunder, COO at Swiggy said, "We are overwhelmed with messages from consumers expressing how Swiggy Genie has been a lifeline in these tough times. With several cities under lockdown, and family or friends to take care of, Swiggy Genie has delivered necessities like home-cooked meals, OTC medicines, test reports and grocery to the doorsteps of Indians. Considering the criticality of the service, we are now prioritizing Genie deliveries. We urge users to stay indoors, and we will do our best to get them whatever they need while also keeping the safety of our partners top of mind."

Users who are unable to step out because of COVID or are isolating because of the disease can use the Swiggy Genie or Care Corner to get essential items including oximeter and medicines delivered to their homes. Similarly, users can also get home-cooked food delivered to their place.
