Vivo announced the Vivo X70 series back in October 2021 and just after six months, the company is bringing the Vivo X80 series to the Indian market. The India launch of the Vivo X80 series is set for May 18. The company is expected to launch both X80 and X80 Pro versions that are already available in some of the markets. So, there isn't anything left to imagine as the specifications of the phones will likely be similar for the Indian variant too. Here's everything we know about the upcoming Vivo phones.
The Vivo X80, which will be the standard model in the series, is expected to be priced under Rs 45,000 to give a tough competition to popular phones like the OnePlus 9RT. The more expensive, the Vivo X80 Pro, could be priced between Rs 60,000 to Rs 65,000. It will likely be seen competing against phones like Realme GT 2 Pro and OnePlus 10 Pro.
The standard model has typical features that one would expect to have under Rs 45,000 price range. In the global market, the Vivo X80 has a Full HD+ display that is 6.78-inches in size. The AMOLED panel has support for 120Hz refresh rate. It features a centered punch-hole display and a unique back panel design as well. If the device launches in the above-mentioned price range, then it would be disappointing to see that the standard model doesn't have an IP rating.
The Vivo X80 doesn't come with a Snapdragon chipset and the company has opted for a flagship Mediatek SoC for the standard model. It draws power from a Dimensity 9000 chipset. The handset is running on Android 12 out of the box. The handset has features like stereo speakers, VC cooling system for better heat dissipation, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and an X-axis leaner motor.
For photography, there is a triple rear camera setup. It includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 RGBW sensor with an f/1.75 aperture with support for optical image stabilization (OIS). It is paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 12-megapixel portrait sensor. On the front is a 32-megapixel camera with f/2.45 aperture.
There is a 4,500mAh battery under the hood that has support for faster-charging speeds. The companies have now started offering up to 150W tech and the new one is also expected to come with support for 80W wired charging.
The Pro version is a full-on flagship smartphone from Vivo. It offers most of the features that one usually gets in the ultra-premium segment. The Vivo X80 Pro is powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chipset, which is found inside phones like OnePlus 10 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S22 series, Relame GT 2 Pro, and more.
For photography, the global variant of the Vivo X80 Pro features a 50-megapixel quad rear camera setup. While the standard version is using a Sony sensor for photography, the Pro comes with a Samsung ISOCELL GNV primary sensor. It is paired with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 for better ultra-wide angle shots. The setup also includes a 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 sensor for capturing portrait shots. There is also an 8-megapixel periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and 60x digital zoom. The device is even equipped with a new Vivo V1 Plus imaging chip that is claimed to offer greater night and low-light shots.
With the Vivo X80 Pro, you get features like IP68 water-resistant rating, 50W wireless charging, and a bigger 4,700mAh battery that you do not get with the regular model. There is also support for NFC, stereo speakers, X-axis leaner vibration motor, and VC chamber cooling system for better heat dissipation.
The global model of the Vivo X80 Pro features the same 6.78-inch display as the standard model, but this one has higher resolution support. The panel operates at QHD+ resolution and it refreshes at 120Hz for a smoother scrolling experience. The screen has support for 1,500nits of peak brightness. The device gets support for 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.
