Indians will now be able to purchase Delhi Metro tickets via WhatsApp. The service has been launched in partnership with PeLocal Fintech Private Limited, and it is on a trial basis for now. The new pilot project was inaugurated by Dr. Vikas Kumar, who is the Managing Director of DMRC from Metro Bhawan. This is a great feature for those who don't much about how to book a ticket.
WhatsApp will make it easier for people to quickly purchase metro tickets. Though, the option to book tickets is limited to certain stations because this is a pilot project and it is not available for all destinations. The functional stations include New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kaun, Delhi Aerocity, IGI Airport, and Dwarka Sector 21. But, more stations are soon expected to be added to the list.
Step 1: One first needs to send a "Hi" message on DMRC's official WhatsApp number – 9650855800.
Step 2: You can now select your desired language. You get two options - Hindi or English.
Step 3: Now, tap on "Buy Ticket" button and you will get the option to select source and destination stations. One will also find Last Journey Tickets and Retrieve Ticket options too.
Step 4: Now, simply tap on the number of tickets you need to buy.
Step 5: You will now be asked to make the payment after confirming all the details. A link is generated for the payment. Once you pay for the metro ticket, you will get QR-based ticket on WhatsApp.
Note: People will get QR-based ticket, which one doesn't need to print. People can simply scan the QR code using their phone at designated scanners that are available at AFC gates for entry and exit.
-A person can buy a maximum of 6 QR-based metro tickets for a journey.
-Each QR-based metro ticket will remain valid until the end of the day.
-Once you enter a gate, you just have 65 minutes to exit.
-One will be able to book Delhi metro tickets during operational hours and there is no option to cancel QR-based Delhi metro tickets.
-Do keep in mind that if you exit from the source station itself, one will have 30 minutes for that.
