Shares of Bank of India tumbled 6.22 per cent to close at Rs 191.40 apiece after the bank announced a net loss of Rs 56.14 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31.

The benchmark Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex on Thursday closed 57.95 points or 0.21 per cent lower at 27,506.71 ahead of F&O expiry. On similar lines, National Stock Exchange (NSE) index Nifty fell for the fourth day and closed at 8,319.00, down by 15.60 points.

  • Vedanta Limited: Vedanta India announced on Thursday that it will acquire up to 5.33 per cent stake, worth over Rs 2,200 crore, in its group concern Cairn India next week. Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta India, which changed the name from Sesa Sterlite last month, is a promoter in Cairn India. The company emerged as the biggest gainer on BSE with the shares rising 4.85 per cent to close at Rs 196.90 apiece.
  • Godrej Industries: Godrej Industries posted consolidated net profit of Rs 402 crore for fiscal 2014-15, registering 23 per cent increase year-on-year (YoY) from Rs 326 crore in previous fiscal (2013-14). Reacting to this, shares of the company rose 3.99 per cent to close at Rs 377.65 per share on Thursday.
  • Bank of India: State-owned Bank of India on Thursday reported a net loss of Rs 56.14 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2015, on higher provisioning for bad loans. As a result of this shares of the bank tumbled 6.22 per cent to close at Rs 191.40.
  • United Spirits: Shares of United Spirits fell over 4 per cent to hit intraday low of Rs 3,360.45 after the income tax department and Ministry of Corporate Affairs sent notices to the company. The firm's shares closed at Rs 3429.55, down by 79.50 points or 2.27 per cent on Thursday.
