These are exciting times for being part of the smartphone industry. The market has headroom to grow since it is still largely underpenetrated. At the same time, retention of customers is possible only through continuous innovation, staying closely aligned to the needs of the end user, and differentiating ones offerings in this fiercely competitive market.
BlackBerry has taken the first step in this direction by innovating and introducing the
BlackBerry 10 platform . We have already seen early success with customers seamlessly using the Z10 device as a replacement of their laptops while still maintaining the security and manageability features that Black-Berry is renowned for.
The growth of employee-owned devices in the workplace has also thrown up new challenges of security and device management in today's corporate environment. For our enterprise customers, we have launched BES-10, a powerful enterprise mobility management solution that helps them securely and seamlessly manage Android, iOS or BlackBerry end points in their workplace. Hence, today, any user of an Android or iOS platform is also a potential customer of BlackBerry.
Our focus in India has been to bring in apps that matter and for this, we have been leveraging a talent pool of over 40,000 developers skilled on the BlackBerry platform to bring these localised apps onto end-user devices. As is evident from the above, BlackBerry has scaled its offerings to beyond just devices or push-mail, and today, it provides one of the most comprehensive Mobile Computing experiences to its customers. And this is only the beginning.
