Adi Godrej, the president of CII and chief of Godrej group, has called for the extension of interest subvention scheme to more sectors like engineering, automobiles and chemicals to boost exports. At present, the export subvention scheme is available to certain labour intensive sectors.

Among other steps needed for export growth revival, Adi Godrej also focused on the need for freight subsidy for entering new markets and a creation of export development fund for aiding SMEs.

On SEZs, Adi Godrej said there is a need for comprehensive SEZ policy including abolition of MAT on SEZs. He stressed on the need for bringing consistency in agri-exports policy to boost exports.

Expressing concern over the deepening industrial slowdown, Adi Godrej called for multi-pronged strategy for reviving the economy.

Adi Godrej is in favour of encouraging pension funds and insurance companies to invest in infrastructure projects and for creating a board of mediation (alternate dispute resolution) consisting of the judiciary, legislature, bureaucracy and the private sector to expedite dispute settlements especially in the areas like land, clearances, taxation, etc.
