Domestic air passenger traffic rose 2.33 per cent in November to 5.13 million passengers from 5.02 million carried during the corresponding month last year, data furnished by the civil aviation ministry on Thursday showed.
According to data furnished by the aviation ministry, the passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-November, 2013 was up 4.52 per cent at 55.83 million from 53.42 million passengers in the corresponding period of last year.
On a month-to-month basis, domestic passenger traffic grew by 2.53 per cent at 5.13 million passengers being ferried in November from 5.01 million passengers serviced in October. The passenger traffic had grown by 9.86 per cent in October from 4.56 million passengers carried in September 2013.
Budget carrier IndiGo remained the largest domestic passenger carrier with a market share of 28.6 percent followed by Air India's domestic operations (19.3 per cent), SpiceJet (19 per cent), Jet Airways (18.5 per cent), GoAir (8.8 per cent), JetLite (5.6 per cent) and newly started Air Costa (0.2 per cent).
The data also showed that Air India's domestic operations achieved the highest overall occupancy in the month under review at 75.1 percent, followed by IndiGo at 74.6 per cent and JetLite at 74.4 per cent.
The data also showed that low cost carrier (LCC) GoAir had the highest cancellation rate of 1.7 per cent followed by SpiceJet at 1.4 per cent and Air India's domestic operations at 0.7 per cent.
