DoT begins 2G licence cancellation process

In a fresh development in the 2G spectrum controversy, the Department of Telecom (DoT) has begun the process of cancelling telecom firms' 2G licences for their failure to honour rollout obligations.
 
The cancellation notice has been served on Etisalat DB Telecom. The DoT has given Etisalat DB 60 days to show cause for its failure to honour rollout obligations.
 
Similar cancellation notices have been issued to Uninor, Loop and Aircel for different circles.
