Price, features speculations gather wind ahead of July 11 Nokia event

As with all much-awaited developments in the tech world, speculations about Nokia's 41 megapixel Windows Phone device have gathered momentum of late.

The Finnish handset maker is expected to unveil the new device on Thursday at its Zoom Reinvented event in New York, which is marketed under the slogan "41 million reasons to zoom in".

Ever since the release of the Symbian-powered 808 PureView, Nokia has teased smartphone owners with the eventual release of a Windows Phone with the same 41 MP sensor.

Reports suggest that the phone's camera will come with a xenon flash. To put that into perspective, the iPhone 5 currently boasts an 8-megapixel camera and LED flash, with the next Apple offering expected to feature 12-megapixels.

Reports also suggest the phone will boast a quad-core chip, a 4.5" display and 32GB storage.

Ahead of the unveiling, Microsoft's Windows Phone manager uploaded sample shots apparently taken on the new device to his Flickr account.

Users of the photo sharing website spotted that two of Joe Belfiore's images were marked as being shot by a Nokia Lumia 1020, potentially ending months of speculation about the phone's title.

According to another report, the Lumia 1020 is now being listed in AT&T product inventory and has been assigned a SKU number. According to the post, the device has been seen in the hands of AT&T employees for testing.

The inventory listing also confirms black, yellow and white color options for the device.

Nokia continues to struggle to compete with Apple and Samsung following a shift in consumer preference towards touchscreen smartphones.

In the past two years Nokia have sold around 20 million Lumia devices, compared with 248 million iPhones and a staggering 800 million Android phones.
