Uninor has announced that it has achieved break even in its Andhra Pradesh operations. This is the third circle for the telecom service provider to achieve the feat, after Gujarat and Eastern UP.

"Profitability must not come at the cost of expensive tariffs for customers. Andhra Pradesh has now become our third circle to reach the break even goal, proving the success of our ultra low-cost model that allows us to offer the cheapest tariffs to our subscribers," Uninor CEO Yogesh Malik said, without disclosing revenues and expenses of the circle.

Uninor had earlier announced the setting up of 15 Mee Stores - a unique concept of shop-in shops within traditional retail outlets - for faster activations. Malik said the company has already set up 41 such stores and is looking to expand further.

Additionally, 1,500 new retail points will be added to Uninor's current retail presence of 55,000.

"On the network too, Uninor has already deployed 40 of the 100 new network sites announced a month ago and has today announced a further increase to 140 new sites," Malik said.
