While we are still waiting for smartphones and
tablets running on Android's latest version - IceCream Sandwich (ICS) - the Indian market is getting its share of affordable tablets running the latest
operating system from Google. Zync Z990 is among the first tablets to have Android v4.0 onboard.
Priced affordably at Rs 8,990, this offers a 7 inch capacitive touch display with 1.2GHz processor paired with 1GB RAM.
As shared by the company, the connectivity options include USB 3G dongle support, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, HDMI and a micro USB port.
Ashish Garg, Chairman, Apple Group of Companies, said: "The Zync Z-990 tablet is India's first Android 4.0 tablet with features such as control over data usage, new gallery app with photo editor, new lock action, new user interface, new camera capabilities and five point touch. We have also designed a keyboard especially for this tablet and priced it just as nominally."
Zync is not alone as even Micromax is planning something on the similar lines. The home-grown brand Micromax is expected to launch a 7 incher with ICS onboard in the coming days.
Till date, only
Asus's Transformer Prime tablet has been officially launched with IceCream Sandwich in the Indian market. Samsung's Galaxy Nexus, which was rumoured to come to India first in December and then March, hasn't landed yet.
