Google has finally announced its next Android version's name which will be after the sweet treat Marshmallow.

The company revealed the name on its developers blog.

Google has already introduced the official Android 6.0 SDK (Software Developer Kit) and the Play Store will be open for developers to publish apps that target the new API level 23 in Android Marshmallow.

"Whether you like them straight out of the bag, roasted to a golden brown exterior with a molten center, or in fluff form, who doesn't like marshmallows?" product manager Jamal Eason asked in a post on the Android developer blog.

At the Google I/O 2015 keynote, Dave Burke, vice-president, engineering, for Android at Google, had revealed that Android M was going to replace Lollipop over the course of this year.

Android M, with hundreds of platform improvements, is seen as Google's most powerful release. Unlike Android 5.0 Lollipop, which introduced a new design and interface, Android M is reported to focus on improving the stability and usability of the software, as well as the core user experience.
