Finnish handset maker Nokia
has finally announced that it will launch its Lumia 1020 in the Indian market on October 11.
Owing to the fluctuating dollar exchange rate, Nokia India has decided to announce the price of the device -
announced globally in July - just a day before the launch.
With the aim to establish a new
benchmark in smartphone imaging, the Lumia 1020 is a Windows Phone device with the company's much acclaimed 41MP PureView camera with LED and Xenon flash. It has an optical image stabilizer, f/2.2 sensor and 3X lossless zoom and Nokia claims the device can produce images sharper than any digital camera.
Nokia India Managing Director P Balaji said the device is a stunning device with imaging capabilities like no other smartphone. "We believe it will further strengthen Nokia's leadership in imaging, which today plays a vital role in lives of consumers."
There is also a Nokia Pro Camera, for capturing professional quality images. Interestingly, there is a dual capture feature that simultaneously takes a high resolution 38 MP image and a 5MP image.
The Lumia 1020 features a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with 1280x768p resolution. Running Windows Phone 8, it has a 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 chipset with 2GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.
