Samsung launched Galaxy S3 at a
price of Rs 43,180 keeping in focus its competitors who are battling for the number one spot in the smartphone market. The Korean electronics giant S3 is pitched against Apple iPhone 4S, HTC One X and yet to be launched Nokia Lumia 900.
The company is targeting 60 per cent share of the Indian smartphone market this year, riding on the success of its Galaxy smartphone series.
The new Galaxy phone is equipped with a 1.4 GHz quadcore processor paired with 1GB RAM. The S3 features a 4.8-inch super AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel (MP) camera with zero-lag shutter speed, 1080p video capture, a 1.9-inch front-facing camera and a 16 GB onboard memory that is expandable. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

iPhone 4S helped Apple to climb back into the leadership position the smartphone segment. Powered by an A5 chip, the phone delivers up to two times faster performance and seven times faster graphics. Its eight-megapixel camera allows users to also record 1080p HD video with image stabilisation.
The handset is equipped with the new operating system iOS 5 and also has over 200 new features, including notification centre and Twitter integration.

The Lumia 900 is the latest flagship smartphone from the Finnish manufacturer that would be launched may be in June this year. The phone sports a 4.3-inch WVGA display and is powered by a 1.4GHz single core processor, has an 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and includes 16GB of built-in storage.
